GPU rendering means, that there is used the power of GPU <em style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">(Graphics card)</em> for rendering, instead of CPU <em style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">(processor)</em>.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.63px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
Conventional CPUs <em style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">(Intel, AMD) </em>didn’t make such dramatic progress, like GPUs in last 10 years. <span style="background: transparent; border: 0px; color: blue; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;"><strong style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;"><a href="http://www.nvidia.com/object/what-is-gpu-computing.html" style="background: transparent; border: 0px; color: blue; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">What is GPU rendering – NVIDIA article</a>.</strong></span></div>

GPU rendering is definitely the future of rendering. One single customer GPU has the same power as the huge and expensive Features selection in reflections computer clusters with many CPUs.</div>
<div style="background: rgb(255, 255, 255); border: 0px; color: #444444; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14.63px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
GPU rendering is incredibly fast and less power hungry. <b>SketchUp</b> models will look better if you add a textured ground plane and/or a background sky.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<br />
Here is an easy way to do it - and place your SketchUp model in front of the new background.<br />

The new, fast, <b style="font-size: 1em; position: static !important;">Batch Extractor</b>, extracts your SketchUp Geometry directly inside of the IRender Batch window, rather than inside SketchUp using Ruby.</div>
<h2 style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Palatino, "Palatino Linotype", Times, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 1em; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 0.5em; padding: 0px; position: static !important;">
<span class="mw-headline" id="Extract_Time_Inprovements" style="font-size: 1em; position: static !important;">Extract Time Inprovements</span></h2>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", sans-serif; font-size: 13.0909px; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 0.5em; min-height: 1em; padding: 0px; position: static !important;">
Our tests had shown that is is 5, 10 or even 20 times faster for extracting the geometry than our old Ruby extractor. (The bigger the model, the more improvement you will see.)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", sans-serif; font-size: 13.0909px; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 0.5em; min-height: 1em; padding: 0px; position: static !important;">
It is currently available in Beta Test mode in the latest versions of <a href="http://www.renderplus.com/wp2/wk/IRender_nXt.htm" style="color: #381f63; font-size: 1em; position: static !important;" title="IRender nXt">IRender nXt</a> , <a href="http://www.renderplus.com/arielvision/wk/ArielVision.htm" style="color: #381f63; font-size: 1em; position: static !important;" title="ArielVision">ArielVision</a> and <a href="http://www.renderplus.com/wp2/wk/3D_Design_Studio.htm" style="color: #381f63; font-size: 1em; position: static !important;" title="3D Design Studio">3D Design Studio</a> which you can download here <b style="font-size: 1em; position: static !important;"><a class="external text" href="http://www.renderplus.com/wp2/download/" style="color: #381f63; font-size: 1em; position: static !important;">Downloads Page</a></b>.</div>
<h2 style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Palatino, "Palatino Linotype", Times, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 1em; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 0.5em; padding: 0px; position: static !important;">
<span class="mw-headline" id="Improved_Extraction_Times_Only" style="font-size: 1em; position: static !important;">Improved Extraction Times Only</span></h2>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", sans-serif; font-size: 13.0909px; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 0.5em; min-height: 1em; padding: 0px; position: static !important;">
Your rendering times, (after extraction), will be the same.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans Unicode", sans-serif; font-size: 13.0909px; line-height: inherit; margin-bottom: 0.5em; min-height: 1em; padding: 0px; position: static !important;">
But the <b style="font-size: 1em; position: static !important;">Batch Extractor</b> can greatly improve the time spent before the rendering passes start.</div>
<h2 style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Georgia, Palatino, "Palatino Linotype", Times, "Times New Roman", serif; font-size: 1em; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px 0px 0.5em; padding: 0px; position: static !important;">
<span class="mw-headline" id="Usage" style="font-size: 1em; position: static !important;">Usage</span></h2>

“Indiana is seeing a strong trend of growth in the technology sector today, supported by homegrown companies like ArchonSafe and Archon Tech Strategies,” said Jim Schellinger, president of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “Hoosiers across our state, like the teams at these two innovative companies, are developing high-tech concepts and advancing the industry, which provides more than 77,000 Hoosier jobs in central Indiana alone. Technology jobs in Indianapolis area are growing three times faster than the national average, and that dramatic growth is a direct result of our Hoosier workforce and an Indiana business climate designed for success.”<br />
<br />
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Archon Tech Strategies (in conjunction with its sister company, ArchonSafe) up to $385,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. Archon Tech Strategies is hiring for multiple positions across the business. Interested applicants should apply at: http://www.archontech.com/.<br />

IES Light Profiles are illumination standards developed by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, the recognized authority on illumination. The profiles enhance IRender nXt renderings with light distribution that is more accurate. IRender nXt includes 30 IES Presets and many lighting manufacturers provide IES profiles for their fixtures.</div>

<b>Kestrel House by Mike Atkinson</b></div>

<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px; line-height: 19.2px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-top: 0.4em;">
<br clear="all" />Mike was kind enough to share some of his thoughts with us:</div>
<div style="background-color: #f0f0f0; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px; line-height: 19.2px; margin-left: 20px;">
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-top: 0.4em;">
Kestrel House was designed by a local Architect who had seen my work and needed visuals preparing for his client and the planning officers at the local council. I worked off CAD drawings in Sketchup and prepared an accurate 3D model. This is a crucial stage in preparing photoreal visuals. Architectural detail must be accurate. (My background as an Architectural Technician helps as I can read and interpret construction drawings). The planning officer wanted to see the building in context to the site so we had to make it look as realistic as possible. I went to site and took some shots of the views that I wanted to re-create.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-top: 0.4em;">
The architect had specified materials and supplied me with photos of particular colour and texture choices. I have built up a vast library of textures and bookmarked several key sites that offer realistic images that render well. At the SU stage we tried several material and colour changes until we had a natural looking palette to compliment the rural setting.</div>
<div style="line-height: 1.5em; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-top: 0.4em;">
The pond is actually there on site and I took a photograph across the water from a low vantage point.</div>
</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px; line-height: 19.2px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-top: 0.4em;">
<b>We liked this rendering</b> because the perspective incorporates an actual site that allows the client to see their proposed building and the proximity to the pond.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px; line-height: 19.2px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-top: 0.4em;">
The reflection of the building in the pond is a very nice attention to detail and the natural lighting on the model matches the sky and site photograph very well.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px; line-height: 19.2px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-top: 0.4em;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.8px; line-height: 19.2px; margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-top: 0.4em;">

<b>ArchVision</b> and <b>Render Plus</b> are pleased to announce new products supporting <b><a href="http://www.renderplus.com/wp2/wk/RPC.htm">RPC<span id="goog_39020645"></span><span id="goog_39020646"></span> </a></b>in your SketchUp workflow.</div>
<div style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
ArchVision recently released an RPC Plug-in for SketchUp that makes placing RPCs directly in your SketchUp model a snap. After installing the plug-in, simply click on the RPC Selection button in SketchUp and browse from thousands of RPCs available with an RPC Subscription license.</div>
<div style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
ArchVision RPC subscription licenses provide access to thousands of render-ready photorealistic People, Trees & Plants, Automobiles and other Objects for as little as $249 per year. RPC is supported natively or via plug-in in the world's leading design visualization solutions including Autocad, Revit, 3ds Max, Microstation, FormZ, Rhino, Modo, and now SketchUp!</div>
<div style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
The RPC Plug-in provides you with the ability to switch from "Model" to "Preview" mode for image-based RPCs (2D, 2.5D, 3D & 3.5D) displaying a single, camera-facing RPC directly in the SketchUp model. When you're ready to take your renderings to another level add one of Render Plus' external renderers to the mix for full RPC rendering support.</div>
<div style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
Render Plus has updated the full line of SketchUp renderers (3D Design Studio, IRender nXt, and ArielVision) to fully support RPC rendering including 3D+ RPCs such as automobiles. As you can see from the image above, the ease of adding photorealistic RPC architectural entourage and rendering with a Render Plus renderer can bring new life to your SketchUp renderings.</div>
<div style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">
<b>For a limited time, Render Plus has a <a class="external text" href="http://www.renderplus.com/rps_processing/rps_subscription.php?coupon_code=RPC" style="background: transparent; border: 0px; color: #1d45a9; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">special offer for RPC users</a></b>. Customers can purchase an ArielVision subscription to render RPCs for half price - just $6.00 per month, (or get a $6.00 per month discount on other Render Plus rendering products, 3D Design Studio and IRender nXt) if purchased before September 30, 3015.</div>
<div style="background: transparent; border: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; word-wrap: break-word;">

<br />
We liked this rendering because of the application of textures, reflections, and natural lighting make this a memorable rendering.<br />
<br />
Notice, for example, that every modeled surface has an applied material and these materials are properly scaled, are textured appropriately, and the reflection on the floor is particularly convincing.<br />
<br />
And the lighting from sunlight entering through the arched door is especially effective.<br />

<b>Richard was kind enough to share some of his thoughts with us:</b><br />
<br />
This image is actually a model I created for a home builder here in NY. This is one of 8 homes I rendered for them over the last 12 months.<br />
<br />
Model was created in Sketchup and rendered with your Render Plus software. This particular model needed to show the proposed sloped site and lower entry garage.<br />
<br />
The sandbox and drape tools in SU played an important part of the models success. Using the HDRI background and IRender nXt ready shrubs and trees helped to bring the model to life.<br />
<br />
I always find setting the correct sun angle, intensity and time of day to be the key to a believable model. The needs to be a difference between shade and shadow to look natural.<br />
<br />
Casting shadows on the foreground give the model depth as well as the proper layering of elements in the render. Slight adjustments to the brightness and color saturation are done right in the NXT render tools.<br />
<br />
I particularly like that the rendering properties of each surface / element can be set while working in the SU model making moving between the model and the render seamless.<br />
<br />
No other post-processing was used.<br />
<br />
This and other rendered models are stored on my YOUTUBE channel Intelliframer Videos<br />
